At Domaine Lieudieu, unusual accommodations range from €70 to €926 per night depending on capacity and season. The cabin on the water with a Nordic bath is the most popular option. For a weekend (2 nights), expect between €640 and €926 all included.

Unusual weekend in the Baie de Somme
If I had to plan an unusual weekend in the Baie de Somme, it’s very simple. I would go to a place that is my favorite, a bit off to the side of the bay, on the border with Normandy, getting closer to Eu, Mers-les-Bains, Le Tréport and that whole area. I would go to Lieudieu.
Why would I go to Lieudieu? Because it’s a place where you can truly reconnect with yourself. And when I say reconnect, I mean it in every sense of the word. You can reconnect with each other, settle into a different rhythm, and also find yourself in a place that doesn’t completely match what you’d expect from a typical seaside weekend.
Sleeping in an unusual place
Lieudieu is a hotel village where you can have the independence of a house, whatever your situation or the number of people. You can be a dozen, twenty, or just four or two — it’s up to you to choose the accommodation that suits you best.
But above all, you can choose from different types of accommodation, and that’s where the unusual aspect really begins:
- The cabin on the water, floating on the pond, with its private Nordic bath heated to 38°C. It’s our most requested accommodation, and it’s easy to see why.
- The Goutte d’Ô, a transparent bubble on the water. 180° view, perched nest atmosphere. Ideal for a couple or a family with a young child.
- The House on the Water, on stilts, with a panoramic view over the Monks’ pond.
- The caravan, by the river. Intimate terrace, waking up to birdsong.
- The yurt, for a fully immersive nature experience.
- The Abbey cottage, in a 12th-century Cistercian abbey. For those who want something unusual with heritage.
- The Country House, with its private spa and garden in the heart of the estate.
- The Bird House, a unique experience with a water-level view to observe birds and horses right before your eyes.
These are the main unusual options — we have others to discover. That’s our little extra. It’s not just about “booking a room and sleeping somewhere.” It’s about being in a place where the accommodation itself is already part of the experience.
Tarifs
- From 70€/night depending of the season of accommodation.
What you can do during an unusual weekend
The estate is large, very large, in fact, covering around 100 hectares. So not only can you walk around, but you can also breathe, slow down, spend time there without necessarily needing to rush from one place to another.
You can stroll, take horseback riding lessons, enjoy the estate, walk without having to follow a packed schedule, and that feels good.
Because in reality, an unusual weekend is not just about “doing something original so you can talk about it later.” It’s also about truly feeling like you’ve changed your surroundings.
Having experienced it ourselves, it’s a real sense of escape. A deliberate disconnection — for the cabin with a Nordic bath, the pleasure of a hot bath and a jump into the pond, time stands still so you can finally enjoy the calm that nature offers to soothe your days. And that’s not even mentioning everything else you can do there (horse riding, cycling, paddleboarding, walking, wakeboarding…). A true opportunity to reconnect as a couple or as a family.
A typical weekend
To give you an idea, here’s what we would recommend:
Friday evening: arrival at the estate, settling into your accommodation. Nordic bath at 38°C with a view over the pond. Total silence. You’ve arrived. You can request a basket of local products, a bottle of champagne or cider — in short, the relaxation you’ve been waiting for.
Saturday: in the morning, a horseback ride in the forest or around the estate (expect €35 to €60 depending on the duration). In the afternoon, seals at Le Hourdel (35 minutes by car, free on foot once there, binoculars recommended). In the evening, sunset from the cliffs of Ault or a stop in Mers-les-Bains for dinner at Les Mouettes on the pebbles.
Sunday: a walk or run around the Gamaches pond. Lunch at the beach hut by the Robinson pond within the estate, with various food trucks available. And on your way back, whether toward Paris or Lille, a stop in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme for a final moment after a full weekend.
The cliffs of Mers-les-Bains, right nearby
Another advantage is that from Lieudieu, you can very easily explore the surroundings. And there’s something I find quite incredible that many people don’t know: people always think that Normandy is where the cliffs begin.
But no, my friends.
The cliffs start in Picardy.
And that’s right next to Lieudieu, toward Mers-les-Bains (15 minutes by car). So if you spend an unusual weekend in this area, you also have access to a coastline that is truly beautiful and quite different, with its villas, seafront, cliffs, and that mix between Picardy and Normandy that gives the area a lot of charm.
You can then continue on to Le Tréport, enjoy the port, the town, the nearby border, and create a weekend that doesn’t feel like a simple copy of what everyone else does first.

A romantic weekend in the Baie de Somme
And if I were to take it a step further, an unusual weekend in the Baie de Somme is also a very, very good idea for a romantic getaway. Honestly, it has everything you need. Wide open spaces, peace and quiet, incredible light, sunsets, walks for two without seeing many people, and that timeless feeling that really helps you disconnect.
Once again, I’ll come back to Lieudieu, because it’s exactly the kind of place that lends itself perfectly to this. You have your own little house, your own space, sometimes by the water, sometimes more secluded, and that feeling of being a little alone in the world. You can go for a walk together around the estate, cycle to the sea, come back, have a quiet dinner… in short, take your time.
And then there’s everything around it. Getting lost in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, climbing up to the old town, passing through the Jeanne d’Arc gate, walking back down to the quays, ending at the Mouton to watch the sun set. Going to Le Crotoy to enjoy the beach and the evening light. Or simply walking, without any real purpose, along the bay.
Truthfully, you don’t need to do much. That’s exactly what makes it so good. The Baie de Somme, as a couple, is more about an atmosphere than a program. And that’s often when it works best.
For a romantic weekend, we recommend the cabin on the water with the Nordic bath. See our accommodations for couples.

Recharge your batteries
What’s great about this type of stay is that the unusual aspect doesn’t take away from comfort. Quite the opposite.
So yes, it’s unusual. But it’s not “complicated unusual.” It’s not the kind of place where you have to pretend to enjoy sleeping half-suspended in a box without heating just to say it was original. Here, it remains something beautiful, pleasant, breathable, and honestly very enjoyable.
The Nordic bath heated to 38°C with a view over the pond is the kind of moment you don’t find in a typical hotel. In winter, when it’s 5°C outside, it’s even better.
You can also contact reception to book a massage on site, or head to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme to visit a spa, such as the Spa Baie de Somme or Les Corderies.
You can come as a couple, with family, or with friends — for a romantic weekend, a getaway with loved ones, or even a longer stay. You have the independence of a house, the ability to choose your atmosphere, and a large enough estate for everyone to find something they enjoy.

In short, if I had to plan an unusual weekend, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose Lieudieu. And if you’ve already discovered Saint-Valery, Le Crotoy, Le Hourdel, Cayeux, and the main highlights, you’ll discover something different. Another side of the bay. Another pace. Another way to enjoy it.
And honestly, that’s no small thing.
